Writing in Paradise
April 2020
At Writing in Paradise, it matters to us that you find your true voice and craft your writing — fiction or non-fiction, short or long form prose, memoir, poetry…
Join us in Sanur, Bali — 1-7 April 2020 — and let us help you make your writing dreams come true.
Over 6 nights and 7 days, you will be supported and guided and, most definitely, stretched and inspired.
— Amy Davoren, Sydney, novel

You will:
- harness the power and discipline of writing daily
- be guided to tap your imagination and create captivating writing
- get guidance and feedback from experienced mentors
- enjoy the camaraderie and encouragement of fellow writers
- discover what Hemingway meant: “All you have to do is write one true sentence, write the truest sentence that you know”.
— Sandy Fairthorne, Adelaide, plays

The Venue: Villa Sekala in Sanur
Nestled away at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac — five minutes walk to Sanur beach — Villa Sekala was built by a Dutch sculptor and has since been lovingly maintained by Shelley. We will be conducting our sessions on the vast verandah that is one of the features of the villa. There is plenty of space to do your writing in a quiet corner or under a tree, or contemplating the meaning of words while meandering in the garden or cooling off in the pool.

“The beautiful garden setting not only provided inspiration but fostered creativity and interesting exchanges with the other writers. So much was achieved in the week-long program! Impossible to do on one’s own.”
